Greetings!

I'm writing to inform you that the IL-Democrats.org website has had a change of ownership.

The website has moved to a different hosting company; this move is transparent--your website will continue to be available on the internet. However, your administrative access and ability to modify the content of your pages no longer exists.

Your are, therefore, at the proverbial crossroads. There are many options to consider. If you are unsure of any technical terms described, jump to the bottom and review the Common Terms section.

Your Many Options:

Option 1: Leave your website as is. Your web pages have been moved to the new server. As long as no changes are required, your site will contine to appear on IL-Democrats.org.

Cost: Free

Option 2: Business Card WebPage. These are 'business card' type websites and contain only the basics about your organization (name, address, list of officers, etc.—whatever would fit on an 8.5x11 piece of paper). A maximum of one change per quarter (four per year).

Changes can be submitted via ms-Word. You create the single page using ms-Word, etc. and send it to me--I publish on the website. These sites are free because they require changes infrequently.

All free sites will display the IL-Democrats.org banner at the bottom of the page.

Cost: Free

Option 3: Subdomain Account. If you’d like to keep your website as a subdomain account (i.e. www.IL-Democrats.org/your_name) and have me maintain your site…

You’ll need to send me your webpage files so I can update the your site
You can FTP or email them to me
You’ll need to purchase a maintenance plan (see below)

Cost: Minimal but depends on frequency and size of changes.

Option 4: Domain Account Plan #1. For those organizations wishing to host a domain account with their own unique domain name, we offer the following:

Domain name. Obtain a domain name for your website. Visit GoDaddy.com and register the domain (the cost is $8.99 per year). You are an organization, therefore, your primary domain name should end with the .org suffix; it is recommended but not necessary that you also register the .com version of the name--YourDomain.com (the cost is $9.99 per year).

Both domain names can point to your website.

There is some technical configuration that will need to be performed. You can learn how to do this and the total cost will be less than $8.99 per year (your domain cost from GoDaddy). If you’d rather not, I can set up and maintain the domain name for you at a cost of $17.50 plus the cost of the domain ($8.99)—about $27.50 per year per domain.

The shorter and easier to remember, the better the domain name. Some good examples:

Lake County - LakeDems.org

Tenth Congressional District Democrats - TenthDems.org

Mt. Zion Township Dems - MtZionDems.org

Alexander County - AlexanderDems.org

Hosting Space. We offer 50 meg of space for $5.00 per month or $60.00 annually. This includes 5 email accounts (i.e. SallySmith@yourdomain.org). Additional space is available at $2.50 per 25meg increments as your website grows.

Maintenance Plan.

Maintenance plans are based on frequency and size of the changes and are measured in hours of service. In general, we bill in 15 minute increments at $35.00 per hour (1/4 = $8.50).

These charges may be heavily discounted depending on the length and size of the maintenance agreement and payment option.

Occasional Major Changes: we can provide you with a quote before we start.

Domain Costs		$ 10.00
Hosting Space (25 Meg)		$ 60.00
Maintenance (4 hours @ 20% off regular rate)		$ 95.00
		$ 165.00 per year

Option 5: Domain Account Plan #2. This option is for organizations with their own technical staff wishing full control over their websites including access to CPANEL.

Hosting Space. We offer 100 meg of space for $20.00 per month or $240.00 annually ($215 if paid in full).

Other Services

There are other options available depending on your organization including: blogs, mailing lists, image galleries, discussion forums, etc.

COMMON TERMS

Business Card website. Contain only the basics about your organization (name, address, list of officers, etc.—whatever would fit on an 8.5x11 piece of paper).

Domain Name. That’s the www.domainname.org web address. Domain names can be purchased for less than $10.00 per year at registrars like GoDaddy.com.

Sub-Domain Account. These are sub-directories off a domain such as www.IL-Democrats.org/your_name) and do not require a domain registration.

Domain Account. These are websites associated with their own domain name (i.e. www.IroquoisCountyDems.org). These accounts require hosting space.

Hosting Space. Domain accounts require disk space on the web. Once your web pages are created you need a place to put them.

Maintenance Plan. Contracting with us to make changes to your website. We offer custom plans depending on the frequency and size of the changes. New websites we design come with a 30 day free maintenance plan.
